Booster vaccines reduced the risk of COVID‑19–related hospitalization and death, according to a new study of over 3 million UK adults.

1. Boosters Halve Severe COVID-19 Risk: A large study led by the University of Bristol and University of Oxford found that booster vaccines reduced the risk of COVID-19 hospitalization and death by about 50% among adults aged 50 and older.
2. Moderna and Pfizer Boosters Perform Similarly: Researchers analyzing health records through NHS England found comparable protection from boosters produced by Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech, though protection was strongest in the first 70 days and gradually declined over time.
3. Real-World Evidence Confirms Booster Effectiveness: Data from over 3 million adults showed significantly lower hospitalization and death rates among boosted individuals, reinforcing booster vaccination as a critical tool to prevent severe COVID-19 outcomes in older populations.
