HOPE-NE: Hypertension in Obstetrics: Prevention & Education – NEbraska

The symposium occurred on May 20, 2026, on the UNMC campus in Omaha, Nebraska, and provided a focused exploration of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, emphasizing the role of biomarkers in detecting, stratifying risk for, and managing preeclampsia. Sessions covered  the development and implementation of the STAMPP‑HTN postpartum hypertension program, rural health perspectives in HDP management, and hands‑on nursing training for clinical care. Additional presentations addressed cardiology dysfunction during preeclampsia and the peripartum period, along with basic science insights into targeted placental drug delivery, biomarker origins, and emerging therapeutics such as luteolin. The event offered an interdisciplinary overview aimed at improving maternal health outcomes.

At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss evidence-based strategies for the identification, risk stratification, and management of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including preeclampsia, to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
  • Demonstrate interprofessional management of antepartum and postpartum hypertension, emphasizing continuity of care, role clarity, and effective communication across care settings.
  • Integrate biomarker-driven and equity-focused approaches into clinical decision-making for patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy to support early detection and reduce disparities.
  • Identify emerging evidence related to cardiovascular dysfunction, placental pathology, and novel therapeutics to inform care of patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
