Letter from Vice Chair of Research

Edward V. Fehringer, MD

The goals for research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery are to identify newer and evolving ways of making bone and joint problems more comfortable, mobile, and stronger.

This focus allows us to educate our students better by always keeping the end user (the patient) in mind.

We are continuously testing our diagnostic methods as well as non-surgical and surgical treatment options to identify what works best.  While technology and diseases continue to evolve, our thoughts and testing continually evolve, too, as do our ways of educating our students.
