How to Apply
We appreciate your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Please review the information and links below before submitting your application.
Applicants must register with the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to be eligible for an interview. The program uses the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for its PGY-1 positions.
To receive a complete evaluation by the program, apply on time through ERAS with all required information (personal statement, at least three letters of recommendation, exam scores, etc.). Our program encourages applicants to complete all sections previously found in the supplemental ERAS application, including the most meaningful experiences, geographic preference, and signal.
Over the last five cycles (2022-2026), our program received an average of 485 applications per year.
Additional information about what is new in the 2027 MyERAS Application Season is available here.
OUR MATCH PLEDGE
We expect 5 PGY-1 positions to start on July 1, 2027, and plan to interview 53 candidates. We do not anticipate any transfer positions opening.
The program leadership will review applications holistically, considering life experiences, advocacy and leadership, service history, language skills, and personal attributes alongside test scores.
Candidates requiring special consideration, including those in a couples match, can contact our program. (These situations should ideally be detailed in your personal statement and geographic preferences.) We cannot guarantee an individualized response to every inquiry.
The program will begin extending interview invitations on September 24, 2026, with several rounds of invitations. We will not invite more candidates to interview than we have interview slots available. If a candidate cancels, additional invitations may be sent until our last interview date.
All interviews will be virtual and held on Thursday mornings starting October 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Central. Our last interview date is January 7, 2027.
We will certify our rank list by February 7.
