Our team of experts in colon and rectal surgery are on the forefront of surgical education and outcomes-based research for diseases such as colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticulitis.

We have a focus on innovative care and the integration of cutting-edge technology into our curriculum and practice.

Some of our faculty rank in the top 2% of researchers worldwide, recognizing them as top professionals in their field. Through our primary clinical partner, Nebraska Medicine, we provide the highest level of care for patients with colorectal diseases.

Sean Langenfeld, MD, Division Chief

Dr. Langenfeld arrived at UNMC in 2012, and has since built a colorectal surgery team and program with high clinical volumes and international recognition for expertise in colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
