Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers programs of graduate study leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The M.S. program is designed to provide a background in analytical and experimental biochemistry and includes a Master's Thesis. The Ph.D. program is designed to provide a more comprehensive knowledge of the biochemistry and molecular biology of living organisms and includes the research and training experience necessary for the development of independent investigators. A wide selection of research opportunities exists in the department in various areas of biochemistry and molecular biology, including DNA replication, gene regulation, cell-cell communications, structural biology, receptor endocytosis & protein trafficking, nutrition, enzymology, endocrinology, and metabolism (protein, lipid, and carbohydrate).
