Guda Lab

Our laboratory supports a diverse portfolio of research projects spanning Genomics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI), and Drug Discovery.

Current research activities in the Guda Lab broadly fall into the following areas:

Machine Learning and AI for Genomic Big Data
- We develop and apply advanced ML/AI methodologies to analyze large-scale genomic datasets. Our work includes multi-omics data integration using data science and deep learning approaches, as well as the application of large language models (LLMs) to genomics through transformer architectures and self-attention mechanisms.
In Silico Drug Discovery
- Our research focuses on identifying non-conventional therapeutic targets, including proteins, fusion transcripts, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs). We develop and implement rapid structure-based and ligand-based virtual screening strategies to efficiently interrogate ultra-large chemical libraries for potential drug candidates.
Algorithm and Pipeline Development for Biomolecular Data Analysis

We design novel computational algorithms and scalable data analysis pipelines for diverse biomolecular datasets. These efforts are complemented by experimental validation and the development of user-friendly software platforms and web-based applications to facilitate broader research use.
