Guda Lab
Our laboratory supports a diverse portfolio of research projects spanning Genomics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI), and Drug Discovery.
Current research activities in the Guda Lab broadly fall into the following areas:
- Machine Learning and AI for Genomic Big Data
- We develop and apply advanced ML/AI methodologies to analyze large-scale genomic datasets. Our work includes multi-omics data integration using data science and deep learning approaches, as well as the application of large language models (LLMs) to genomics through transformer architectures and self-attention mechanisms.
- In Silico Drug Discovery
- Our research focuses on identifying non-conventional therapeutic targets, including proteins, fusion transcripts, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs). We develop and implement rapid structure-based and ligand-based virtual screening strategies to efficiently interrogate ultra-large chemical libraries for potential drug candidates.
- Algorithm and Pipeline Development for Biomolecular Data Analysis
- We design novel computational algorithms and scalable data analysis pipelines for diverse biomolecular datasets. These efforts are complemented by experimental validation and the development of user-friendly software platforms and web-based applications to facilitate broader research use.
