Experts Pan Call to Break Up the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccine

MedPage Today “I cannot think of a single reason to implement such a concept” The temporary CDC head’s call to split apart the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three separate shots drew swift rebukes from pediatric and infectious disease experts.

“I call on vaccine manufacturers to develop safe monovalent vaccines to replace the combined MMR,” Acting CDC Director Jim O’Neill said Monday on Xopens in a new tab or window. His statement affirmed an all-caps social media post last month by President Donald Trump to “break up the MMR shot into three totally separate shots (not mixed!).” O’Neill offered no details on why or how such an approach should be implemented.
