Professional Summary
Leslie Van Winkle is a speech-language pathologist and behavior analysist in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's (UNMC) Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI). Leslie joined the team in 2014; She specializes in the areas of autism and augmentative and alternative communication. She is a part of the interdisciplinary autism diagnostic clinic at Munroe-Meyer Institute, implements individual parent training programs for young children with autism, leads preschool groups in the RiteCare Clinic, and provides consultative speech therapy services for children with autism in applied behavior analysis programs. Leslie is also the supervisor of speech-language pathologists providing integrated speech-language services in the Integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (iCASD).
She received her Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in December 2019 and is interested in developing further collaborations between speech-language pathologists and behavior analysts. She presents at state conventions, doctorate level courses, and local clinics regarding important speech and augmentative and alternative communication intervention strategies for children with autism.
