The Munroe Meyer Institute (MMI) Physical Therapy (PT) Department specializes in assessment and treatment of movement difficulties. The goal is to improve an individual’s mobility and function for daily activities at any age or stage of life. Our team is trained in motor and musculoskeletal development, movement sciences, neuroplasticity, motor learning, biomechanics, orthotics and assistive technology.
Our mission:
- To optimize physical activity, motor function, and community access for all children and adults with movement challenges (clinical);
- To develop new, cutting edge treatments for motor dysfunction by understanding how the brain processes and uses sensorimotor information (research);
- To develop the next generation of clinical and research experts for sustained excellence in the care of individuals with movement dysfunction (education); and, most importantly,
- To promote “Fun, Function, Fitness, Family, Friendship, and Future for all”. (Rosenbaum and Gorter, “The F-words of Childhood Neurodisability”, 2011).
