What is Americorps?
AmeriCorps is a national service initiative signed into law by President Clinton in 1993. This program offers Americans an opportunity to serve their country and to "make a difference" in their own community. Nationally, more than 500 AmeriCorps projects have been awarded. What all of these programs have in common is a commitment to improving our country and to helping people develop as citizens who contribute to improving their own communities and our country's future.
