Learn More About the Resident

Hometown: Overland Park, KS

Career aspirations: General OB-GYN

What was your first job? My first job was as a basketball referee, which lasted for only two months but I did have a long career as a baseball umpire before attending medical school.

What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha? Galapagos Islands - I got to swim with wild Galapagos penguins!

If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do? Major league baseball scout or professional shoe critic. I love sports and collecting shoes so either one of these would not even feel like a job.

Best thing to do in Nebraska if you only had one day? I would walk my dogs in the morning then hit the gym before grabbing lunch at Roja Mexican Grill. After lunch I would take a stroll through the Henry Doorly Zoo then go to a CWS or Stormchasers game followed by grabbing Coneflower Ice cream to cap off an amazing day!

Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point? My first delivery as a resident was a twin delivery in the operating room with my amazing night chief, Dr. Krystina Peter.

Career aspirations: Generalist in an underserved/rural area

What was your first job? Lifeguard in college, but patient registration at a hospital was my first full-time job.

What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha? New Zealand as a child.

If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do? Run a sanctuary for senior and special needs cats.

Best thing to do in Nebraska if you only had one day? I haven't been back yet, but as a kid I loved air conditioned desert dome and indoor swamp at the zoo.

Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point? Our attending's husband napping with my daughter at their pool party - it was so sweet!

Learn More About the Resident

Hometown: Lawrence, KS

Career aspirations: Likely generalist, but open to fellowship if I feel pulled in that direction.

What was your first job? Youth soccer referee

What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha? Narok County in Kenya - I lived there for year while in a volunteer exchange program before med school.

If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do? The realistic answer would be a teacher in a high school, but if I could do anything, probably a wildlife photographer or working for a national park .

Best thing to do in Nebraska if you only had one day? It would include some combination of a Husker volleyball game, ice cream at Coneflower, a visit to Lauritzen Gardens, and exploring Old Market.

Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point? I'd say the weekly dinners spent hanging out with my intern class - any time we get together is a great time!
