Bio

What do you do at UNMC?
I am Assistant Professor and Director of Curriculum & Assessment for the College of Allied Health Professions. I work with the CAHP Office of Academic Affairs team on ongoing projects related to the college's educational mission. This includes assessment of student learning, course and program quality, instructional technology, data collection and storage, and employee development.

Tell us about your educational research interests and teaching role.
I teach the assessment and evaluation course for the Masters of Health Professions Teaching & Technology program. My research interests are in the assessment of student learning, qualitative and mixed methodologies, and women in health professions education.

What is one of your favorite/memorable teaching moments?
My most memorable teaching moments are when I see a student through a long-term project like a capstone project, thesis, or dissertation. To watch an adult learner gain confidence and become more self-assured in their own expertise is such a special occasion.

What do you see as the biggest benefit to being a member of the IAE?
The IAE has been a community of professionals who have supported and encouraged my growth as a teacher and researcher. I most enjoy the opportunity to discuss potential solutions with others who are experiencing similar challenges as I am. I leave every IAE event with something valuable -- sometimes it is just a little tidbit or tip and sometimes it is a whole new way of thinking about a problem.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Everything will be okay in the end. So if it's not okay, it's not the end.
