- C-STARS
  C-STARS, the Center for Sustainment of Trauma Readiness Skills- Omaha is a collaboration between UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, and the Air Force Research Laboratory’s School of Aerospace Medicine. C-STARS Omaha works closely with UNMC’s Global Center for Health Security, iEXCEL, and the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit to take advantage of the medical center’s capabilities and expertise in biopreparedness training and research.

Outbreak News Today: Dengue in the Philippines: Increasing trend reported in more than 100 cities

From the beginning of the year to August 29, 2026, 128,634 dengue cases were reported, a 39% decrease from 209,631 cases reported in the same period last year. Among the reported cases, 48,132 (37%) were confirmed, 16,874 (13%) were probable, and 63,628 (49%) were suspected.

Virginia health officials on Tuesday announced the state’s first documented case of locally acquired dengue, saying a resident who had not traveled outside Virginia was probably infected after being bitten by a mosquito that had previously bitten an infected traveler.
