Fetal and Neonatal Care Coordination Clinic

Coordinated Maternal and Neonatal Care

The Fetal and Neonatal Care Coordination (FNCC) Clinic is a collaborative, monthly outpatient clinic led by the Division of Maternal‑Fetal Medicine (MFM) in partnership with the Division of Neonatology at UNMC.

The FNCC Clinic is designed for patients whose pregnancies are complicated by conditions that may require neonatal intensive care. Through coordinated consultation with both MFM and Neonatology providers, patients and families receive integrated guidance to support informed, shared decision‑making before delivery.

Indications for Referral

  • Shared decision making at peri-viable gestational ages in advance of admission for intervention
  • Pregnancy and neonatal care of a fetus with a congenital anomaly with care anticipated to occur at Nebraska Medicine
  • Neonatal care following a pregnancy complicated by complex medical conditions, such as diabetes
  • Neonatal care in the setting of known chromosomal abnormality

Referral Contact Information

To refer a patient, please contact our MFM navigator, Alicia Franksen at afranksen@unmc.edu or 402-559-6648; she will coordinate NICU, MFM and ultrasound appointments.

Care Model

Referrals are welcome for one‑time consultation or ongoing care. Neonatal care is provided by the Division of Neonatology, with same‑day MFM consultation. Care may include co‑management or transfer of prenatal care, depending on patient and provider preference.

Clinic Highlights

  • Joint MFM/NICU visits in an outpatient environment at gestational ages where complex information can be offered to patients, and where patients are invited to choose the best path forward for their pregnancy, using shared decision making.
  • Access to advanced imaging to facilitate accurate information dissemination.
  • Opportunities to participate in ongoing research

Clinic Location and Schedule

The FNCC clinic meets regularly on Monday afternoons in the Olson Center for Women's Health, located on the 4th floor of the Durham Outpatient Center.
