Research Resources
The Department of Surgery is implementing processes for the review of new clinical research studies. Divisions with research coverage (i.e: Cardiovascular and Oncology) will continue with their current workflow. For divisions without research coverage, investigators proposing new clinical research studies will need to submit a SCRO Study Feasibility Survey to the Surgery Clinical Research Office (SCRO). These forms will be reviewed by the Clinical Trials Focused Teams (CTFT), which will meet as-needed when forms are submitted for review. The CTFT meetings will be scheduled on Wednesday, 4:00-5:00pm once a month or as needed.
If you have any clinical research questions, please contact the SCRO:
- Debbie Bergman – (402) 559-2127 |dabergma@unmc.edu
- Crystal Krause – (402) 660-0091 | krause@unmc.edu
- Jackie Pavlik – (402) 559-6759 | jpavlik@unmc.edu
The Vice Chancellor for Research sponsors Funding Institutional, a searchable database of funding opportunities from over 4,000 public and private funding sources, for use by UNMC researchers. This unique tool also allows campus researchers to search current opportunities by keyword, set up alerts for new programs and view recommended opportunities based on their individual research profile. For more information, please visit VCR Funding Institutional web page: https://www.unmc.edu/vcr/funding/funding-institutional.html
The Surgery Research Office has purchased grant writing workbooks to help surgery investigators navigate the grant submission process. These books offer a step-by-step guide on how to write each section of the proposal and contain tips and strategies on how to develop a well-crafted and competitive application. We have two versions of the workbooks available: an NIH specific version and a Successful Proposals to Any Agency version. If you are interested in checking out either of these books, for up to 10 days, please contact the Surgery Research Office at 402-836-9121/402-559-9379 or email Michelle Varney at mvarney@unmc.edu.
