- Proposal Development Tips:
New! NIH Data Management & Sharing Policy requires all application types that generate scientific data, regardless of funding level, include a detailed plan and specific budget plan for data management and sharing during the entire funding period. UNMC Resource: https://www.unmc.edu/spa/policies/nihdmsp/index.html
NIH Biosketch – Personal Statement (Section A) should be written specifically for the proposed study to assure reviewers that this person has the training and experience to skillfully carry out the role on the project.
Add contacting NIH Program Officers to your proposal development timeline – 6 months prior to due date is a great time to reach out to POs with your research aims and discuss the IC, FOA and Study Section that will be an optimal fit for your proposal.
Include PMC reference number (PMCID) when citing papers from NIH-funded research – this applies to anyone submitting an application, proposal or report (RPPR) to NIH.
The SRO has a copy of the December 2021 edition of The Grant Application Writer’s Workbook for NIH proposals as well as one for other funding agencies available for checkout.
