Mobile Simulation Units

The simulation labs are 44 foot trucks with two simulation spaces: an emergency room and an ambulance module. Each mobile simulation lab will be staffed by licensed, experienced healthcare professionals and educators and will provide a realistic, yet safe and relaxed learning environment.

SIM-NE human patient simulators

Each SIM-NE truck has four human patient simulators. The simulators include two adults and two children.

METIman is an adult simulator. METIman can talk, breathe, has lung and heart sounds, has palpable pulses, has eyes that react to light and can have moulage applied to simulate various types of injuries.

Lucina has all the same features as METIman with the addition of being able to deliver a baby.

Hal and Tory are our child simulators. Hal simulates an approximately five-to-seven year old and Tory simulates a newborn. Both Hal and Tory have many of the same features as the adults with the addition of having tears when they cry and having visible seizures.

SIM-NE task trainers

Each SIM-NE truck has several task trainers available for additional training on specific medical procedures. The task trainers include:

Pediatric intraosseous (IO) trainer
Advanced injection arm-used to start IV’s or give IM injections
Chester chest-Used for various venous access training including ports, PICC line and central line catheter
Urinary catheter kit-Used for training on the insertion of urinary catheters on female patients
Brad torso-Brad allows training with a LUCAS device
Difficult airway trainer-Used to practice both intubation and cricothyrotomy
NG and trach trainer-Used to perform care and insertion of NG and Trach tubes
