HIV Education and Resources

We are committed to training the next generation of HIV care providers and ensuring that current clinicians – including primary care providers and other specialists outside of infectious diseases – have the knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to people with HIV.

Our clinic is actively involved in a range of educational programs spanning local, regional, and national efforts and is committed to fostering a learning environment that supports excellence, equity, and innovation in HIV care—today and for the future.

As the Nebraska site of the Midwest AIDS Education and Training Center (MATEC), we provide education, clinical training and practice transformation support to healthcare professionals across the state. Our goal is to build HIV care capacity in both urban and rural settings through continuing education, mentoring and hands-on experiences.

Through our HIV ECHO program, we support community-based providers in delivering HIV care across Nebraska and neighboring regions. This virtual tele education series connects clinicians with our multidisciplinary HIV experts to review cases, discuss clinical updates and build skills in HIV prevention and treatment. Participation is open to anyone interested in improving HIV care delivery.

Our HIV clinic is a core training site for the UNMC Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program, where fellows gain in-depth experience in caring for people with HIV. Fellows participate in outpatient and inpatient HIV consultative care, contribute to quality improvement projects and work alongside a team of experienced HIV clinicians, pharmacists and social workers.

We also serve as the primary clinical home for medical students enrolled in the HIV Enhanced Medical Education Track (EMET) at UNMC. This longitudinal program offers mentored clinical experiences, HIV-focused didactics and opportunities for research or community engagement.
