Fellows as Educators

UNMC faculty are passionate about teaching. Our rotations, experiences, didactics, and overall curriculum are led by faculty that love nephrology and are committed to education.

Many of our faculty have received award recognition for their dedication and effectiveness in medical education. UNMC clinical educator faculty provide guided mentorship for fellows interested in pursuing medical education.

Our nephrology fellows also have ample opportunities to develop as educators and leaders. Interested fellows are incorporated into the delivery of the three-week nephrology block for first year medical students. Students and residents routinely spend time with us on nephrology rotations, and fellows play an active role in teaching residents and students during their rotations. In fact, nephrology fellows have been recognized as the "Fellow Teacher of the Year" by the Department of Internal Medicine residents for seven of the last eight years.

Health Educators and Academic Leaders

Fellows who are interested in career development in clinical education may elect to participate in UNMC’s novel HEAL program, which provides a formal pathway to develop as a clinical educator.
