Tammy Wichman, MD

Dr. Wichman received her BS in physics at Creighton University and subsequently married her physics lab partner.  He joined the US Navy and she graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine.  She then followed her husband to Virginia where she did her Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Virginia Commonwealth University and had two babies.  Dr. Wichman then stayed at VCU for her Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship.  When it was time to get a real job, they came back to Omaha as family is a huge priority.  She was on faculty at Creighton University for 13 years, had three more babies, and became division chief of Pulmonary Critical Care and the Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency.  She came to UNMC in 2016 to focus on building a center of excellence for patients with pulmonary hypertension.  Her  husband, Chris, is on faculty as a biostatistician in the College of Public Health.  Dr. Wichman loves rounding in the ICU and resident and student teaching.  When she isn’t busy with her five children, she enjoys running half marathons.
