Clinical Schedule

As a fellow, you will divide your clinical rotations between Nebraska Medicine and Children’s Nebraska. You will spend a total of 12 months in the NICU with additional time in the Children’s Cardiac Unit with ECMO exposure and post-cardiac surgical experience during the second year. In your third year, you will attend NICU Follow-up Clinic throughout the year. The rest of your fellowship will be time to dedicate to your scholarly activity.
The University of Nebraska neonatology fellowship program will maintain complete compliance with the ACGME duty hour restrictions. You will always make the call schedules in compliance with duty hour restrictions, approved by the program director. The program director will monitor duty hours logged by fellows on New Innovations and inquire about any duty hour violations, seeking appropriate justifications and/or intervening to prevent future duty hour violations. The duty hour rules can be accessed at this website.
