The Department of Growth and Development encompasses the dental clinical specialties of orthodontics/dentofacial orthopedics and pediatric dentistry. The full-time departmental faculty are all specialty-trained within their respective disciplines.
The department teaches a rigorous predoctoral program in both specialty areas. In addition, the department offers four postgraduate programs: orthodontics/dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, general practice residency, and advanced education in general dentistry.
The faculty has a significant commitment to scholarly pursuits as well as teaching. The department has had grant support from various sources and scholarly publications from original research are widely embraced in the national dental community. The department is active in providing dental continuing education at local, regional and national venues.
