Phase 2 core clerkship year medical students who wish to gain experience in the field of Emergency Medicine may request to perform a selective while on the required basic surgery rotation. Students will evaluate patients and present directly to attendings while working shifts in the Emergency department. Additional educational activities include splint labs, laceration repair labs, and simulation. Space is limited, interested students must make the surgery clerkship coordinator aware of this request as soon as possible. This option is only available to current UNMC medical students while on the required basic clerkship surgery rotation.
