The National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE), based at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, tackles pressing and complex human-centered challenges to homeland security.
As a partner to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the interagency homeland security workforce, NCITE develops cutting-edge insights, tools, and training in support of securing the U.S. homeland from violent transnational criminal organizations, terrorists, and other illicit threat actors. The National Disaster Medical System Pilot Program is a Uniformed Services University-funded program to strengthen interoperable partnerships across the NDMS to care for the nation’s combat casualties by increasing medical surge capabilities and capacity. As one of the eight NDMS Pilot Sites across the country, GCHS is working to establish a collaborative network of federal and civilian partners in the Omaha region to inform and enhance system-wide medical surge capacity, capability, and interoperability.

The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) is the University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) designated by the Department of War, sponsored by U.S. Strategic Command and affiliated with the University of Nebraska System. This designation positions NSRI as a trusted research partner to the federal government, connecting agencies with expertise across the University of Nebraska to address critical national security requirements.
Through its $500 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with U.S. Strategic Command, NSRI provides federal sponsors an efficient pathway to place critical research and development efforts on contract and rapidly engage University of Nebraska expertise.
