After graduating, Dr. Sorrick spent a gap year in Denver, volunteering at a non-profit organization that provided education and services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

She then returned to Omaha for medical school at UNMC and fell in love with internal medicine as an M3. Dr. Sorrick said she was impressed by the program's emphasis on student and resident education on the wards, as well as dedicated time for morning reports, noon conferences, and rotation didactics.
