This module attempts to educate the learner on the various aspects of understanding and taking care of patients with tracheostomies. This module is geared toward all people who may care for patients with tracheostomies including caregivers, community members, first responders, medical students, respiratory therapists, otolaryngologists, non-surgical residents, and hospital nursing staff. Information provided in the module includes the importance of knowledge and advocacy for tracheostomy patients, the reasons for undergoing tracheostomy placement, basic tree he asked me cares, tree he asked me emergencies, and potential avenues for involvement to promote advocacy for tracheostomy patients.
