Education and International Outreach

Our program fosters an educational environment where fellows have many opportunities to advance their teaching abilities. This includes online FOAMed development, educational research and international outreach. 

Dr. Marx

Dr. Marx has special interest in develop on-line educational resources and currently manages a YouTube educational channel.

In the past, he has been able to teach ultrasound courses in both Lima, Peru (2018) and Changsha, China (2019).  He continues to provide video lectures to Hunan’s Provincial People’s Hospital ultrasound course on a yearly basis since the COVID pandemic began (2020 to present). 

Currently we are working towards a model that will be directed to resource limited areas such as rural or international environments. 

Fellows will participate in these experiences when possible. 

Dr. Nelsen

Under Dr. Nelsen’s supervision our residents receive outstanding clinical ultrasound education.  This includes experiences through intern orientation labs, clinical rotation, dedicated US shifts and our annual residency sonogames.  Fellows will participate in resident education throughout the year helping resident’s reach their clinical ultrasound potential. 

Dr. Bonk

Dr Bonk is the director of the college of medicine’s POCUS education.  Throughout the year our faculty provide over 100 hours of student education in our state of the art simulation center.  Fellows will have ample opportunity to participate in student education.
