Therapeutic Recreation Internship

Recreation Therapy therapeutic recreation internship at MMI

Therapeutic Recreation Internship

The Recreational Therapy Department at MMI offers year-round internship training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in therapeutic recreation that fulfill the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) requirements.

Our internship opportunities include a minimum 560-hour, 14-week internship experience that uses the therapeutic recreation process as defined by the current NCTRC Job Analysis Study.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in MMI’s Interdisciplinary CORE Training program. This program provides advance knowledge and skills in the competency areas of interdisciplinary service provision, family-professional partnerships, and cultural competency. As part of this training, students will complete observation activities in disciplines throughout MMI to allow our trainees to understand the philosophy, approach, clinical tools, and contribution of other disciplines and compare and contrast them to Recreational Therapy services.
