Olson Center Webinar Series

Webinars: A Collaborative Educational Offering

These webinars are presented through a partnership between the Olson Women’s Health Resource Center and the UNMC College of Nursing. Designed primarily for a nursing audience, each session offers continuing education credit. However, everyone is welcome to attend.

Live presentations are attended via an online video platform (Zoom) and the recorded presentations are available on this page.

Continuing Education Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Olson Center for Women’s Health. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates each activity for 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity.

This presentation will explain how dietary fiber supports cardiovascular health and aids digestion while describing the role of short-chain fatty acids in energy production, gut health and metabolic processes. We will also identify common foods that are rich in fiber and analyze how eating a variety of plant-based foods promotes optimal gut function.
