In accordance with UNMC guidelines, The Tissue Sciences Facility will remain operational for all facility and clinical trial services.  Due to limited staffing, facility access will be restricted and by appointment only.  Submission processes and laboratory usage are in place to support the effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.  Important information regarding facility operations are detailed out in the attached FAQ.   Updates will be announced on this website and the COVID-19 Research Operations Blog.  Please contact facility management for questions and inquires.

Overview

The UNMC Tissue Sciences Facility (TSF) has been established to provide basic and specialized histology, staining, immunohistochemistry, and imaging techniques to support the research community at UNMC for studies on animal and human tissues. The TSF offers a full range of cost effective, standardized services including tissue preparation, processing, embedding, sectioning, standard and special stains for paraffin and frozen samples, single or multiplex immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, digital bright field slide scanning, fluorescent whole slide imaging, tissue micro array construction, client-use instrumentation with technical support and image analysis services. Multiple software packages are available for image analysis, reconstruction, and deconvolution; these programs include Definiens, Metamorph, Velocity & ITEM Imaging Solutions.

We offer comprehensive pathology support for basic science based on our extensive technical knowledge as well as through understanding the concerns of our research clients.  Pathological consultation can be provided to researchers at all points in the research process.  Training and mentoring is offered on specialized histology equipment, sample preparation and routine and custom histological procedures.  The resources and services at the TSF are available to all University of Nebraska personnel, as well as outside institutions and industrial users
