Events will be held on Monday and Wednesday as UNMC recognizes "It's on US Week."

The events are sponsored by the UNMC Title IX Office and EMPOWER. EMPOWER is a student-led Legacy project supported by the Office of Community Engagement within Academic Affairs. EMPOWER's mission is to increase awareness and provide opportunities for future health care professionals to become involved in efforts to minimize domestic and sexual violence in our community and beyond.

"It's on US invites everyone to step up and realize that the solution begins with us," said Carmen Sirrizzotti, UNMC's Title IX coordinator. "It seeks to reframe the conversation surrounding sexual assault in a way that inspires everyone to see it as their responsibility to do something to prevent it.

"We commit to end sexual assault by recognizing that non-consensual sex is sexual assault, identifying situations in which sexual assault may occur, intervening in situations where consent has not or cannot be given and creating an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported," she said.

Activities will include:

Speaker: Jacquie Gordon, WCA volunteer & training coordinator, and Dayna Akakpo, WCA therapist
