Invites Nurses to Attend Third Annual State-of-the Art Nursing

Conference in Omaha

The Third Annual State-of-the-Art

Nursing conference will be held April 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,

at the Omaha Marriott Hotel, 10220 Regency Circle. The

conference, aimed at nurses and people in nursing management and

educational roles, is sponsored by the Nebraska Health System,

the University Medical Associates and the University of Nebraska

Medical Center College of Nursing. "As health care evolves,

institutions will continue to develop creative strategies to

achieve and maintain excellence," said Hayley Greve, a nurse

with Nebraska Health System’s University Hospital.

"Nurses have a key role in this endeavor. This conference

will present strategies from nurses who are succeeding in meeting

these challenges while promoting essential nursing values."

Conference sessions will focus on

discussions looking at the evolving roles of nursing and how to

achieve nursing excellence and a healthy work environment in the

midst of organizational change.

A keynote address, titled,

"Excellence in Nursing-Achieving Magnet Status," will

be delivered by Carol Robinson, associate director of hospital,

clinics and patient care services at the University of

California-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Another national speaker will be

Joanne Disch, Ph.D., vice president of patient and family

services, Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She

also will deliver a keynote address titled, "Survival:

Healthy Work Environments," which will discuss what she sees

as the main challenge for the next decade.

Cost of the conference is $65 or

$75 after April 10. It includes handouts, breaks, lunch and six

contact hours for continuing education credit. For more
