UNMC College of Dentistry Offers Free Dentistry Seminar to Dentists, Hygienists at Mahoney State Park, North Platte, Scottsbluff, Grand Island

The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Dentistry is

offering a free, four-hour seminar providing updates in dentistry to dentists

and dental hygienists May 8 through 12 during its annual Continuing Education

Caravan. The caravan stops at Mahoney State Park, North Platte, Scottsbluff

and Grand Island.

The program includes presentations by the new dean of the UNMC College

of Dentistry, John Reinhardt, D.D.S., who will speak about whats new in

dentistry and at the college, as well as his vision for Nebraskas only

state-supported dentistry college. Other topics include amalgam mercury

and systemic health and chemotherapeutics in periodontal disease.

The programs will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on each of the following locations

and dates:

May 8 — Mahoney State Park (between Omaha and Lincoln) at Park Lodge,

lower level


May 10 — North Platte Stockmans Inn, Lobby Conference Room A


May 11 Scottsbluff, Western Community College, Bishop Room


May 12 — Grand Island, Holiday Inn Interstate, North Platte Room

professor of restorative dentistry


1:10 p.m. — UNMC College of Dentistry update by John Reinhardt, D.D.S.,

dean


1:45 p.m. Presentation on amalgam mercury and systemic health by John

Reinhardt, D.D.S.


3:15 p.m. Presentation on chemotherapeutics in periodontal disease

by Richard Reinhardt, D.D.S., Ph.D., professor of surgical specialties


5 p.m. — Adjourn

The UNMC College of Dentistry, which celebrated its 100th anniversary

last year, serves Nebraskans and states that have no dental schools, including

Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming. For five of the last six

years, the colleges freshman class has ranked first among the 55 U.S.

dental schools for incoming grade-point average. The college offers programs

in doctor of dental surgery (D.D.S.), bachelors degree in dental hygiene,

certificate in dental hygiene, a general practice residency program and

post-graduate specialty programs in endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics,

pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics.
