Beginning Monday, Aug. 16, Microsoft will begin releasing a major update for Windows XP that provides better protection against hackers, viruses and worms. This update will appear on your machine as a “Critical Windows Update.” Microsoft is randomizing the delivery of the update through its internal technology. Therefore, ITS is uncertain when you will receive the update.
