UNMC College of Dentistry Offers Free Seminar to Dentists and Dental Hygienists

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry is offering a free seminar to dentists and dental hygienists May 9 through 12. The 18th Annual Continuing Education Caravan will provide professionals updates in dentistry. Those who attend also will receive 3.5 hours of free continuing dental education credit.


The caravan will stop at Mahoney State Park, North Platte, Alliance and Grand Island.

 

Topics to be presented include a look into the relationship between oral health and systemic disease and case studies of porcelain veneer restorations. In addition, John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry, will present a brief update on education, research, patient care and outreach activities at the college. Dr. Reinhardt is available for media interviews following his presentation.

 

The programs will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at each of the following locations:

May 9 – Mahoney State Park (between Omaha and Lincoln) on the lower level (must pre-register to attend this site only, call 402-472-1272).


  • May 10 – North Platte, Quality Inn & Suites, Sandhills Convention Center.

  • May 11 – Alliance, Alliance Learning Center, 1750 Sweetwater St.

  • May 12 – Grand Island, Holiday Inn Interstate.

The agenda at each location is as follows: 

 

1 p.m. – Greeting and introduction by Myron L. Pudwill, D.D.S., associate professor in the department of adult restorative dentistry.

1:10 p.m. – UNMC College of Dentistry update by Dean John Reinhardt, D.D.S.

1:30 p.m. – A presentation on the growing link between oral health and systemic disease by Tim Durham, D.D.S., associate professor in the department of dental practice management and director of the general practice residency program.

3:15 p.m. – Case presentations on porcelain veneers by Henry St. Germain, D.M.D., associate professor and chairman in the department of adult restorative dentistry.

5 p.m. – Adjourn
