Van Lear Johnson
Van Lear Johnson — a pioneer in medical educational technology who worked at UNMC for nearly 40 years — died Oct. 12 in Farmington Hills, Mich., after a long illness. He was 79.

Johnson — who spearheaded many innovative developments in the use of information technology in classroom and clinical settings — worked at UNMC from 1956 until his retirement in 1994. (Read a full obituary.)

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at WYUKA Funeral Home, Cemetery and Park, 3600 O St., in Lincoln.
