Phyllis Nsiah-Kumi, M.D., internal medicine-general medicine – The Nebraska Association of Local Directors Outreach Partnership to Improve Health Literacy from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Santhi Gorantla, Ph.D., pharmacology/experimental neuroscience, received a grant from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to test immunogenicity of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) in humanized mouse model.

Peter Coccia, M.D., pediatrics-hematology/oncology, has received a renewal for participation in the Children’s Oncology Group Chair’s Grant. This is a $25.7 million multi-site collaborative program to improve survival rates and cures for childhood cancers. Dr. Coccia will lend his expertise in the diagnosis of pediatric cancers.

Libby Crockett, M.D., obstetrics/gynecology, has received an American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship for her grant titled “Assessing Women’s Health Care Needs of the South Sudanese Refugee Population.”

Vinai Chittezham Thomas, Ph.D., pathology and microbiology, has received an American Heart Association fellowship to study metabolic modulation of programmed cell death in staphylococcus aureus.

Adam Reinhardt, M.D., pediatrics-rheumatology, has received a Cleveland Clinic award for a multicenter study looking at the cost of care for juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients.

Dmitry Oleynikov, M.D., surgery-general surgery, has received a Foundation for Surgical Fellowships award to continue the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program.

Alan Erickson, M.D., internal medicine-rheumatology, has received a grant from the University of Alabama-Birmingham to study radiograph scoring for Tetrad.
