The Department of Procurement and Materials Management presented its CartSmart Awards on Tuesday to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the implementation of eSHOP.
The awards recognize the use of eSHOP by various departments to create purchasing efficiencies and streamline workflow.
The departmental award went to Ed Ramspott, Debi Griffith, Penny Olson and Nick Bender of the Eppley Institute.
Individual awards were given to:
- Debbie Headley of pathology/microbiology;
- Kim Kavan of cellular/integrative physiology;
- Jodi Isom of the College of Dentistry; and
- Sue Klima of biochemistry and molecular biology.
Jeff Elliott, director of procurement and materials management, shared his appreciation for end user involvement and support of eSHOP. He pointed out that UNMC has been a “leader among the campuses, particularly when it comes to taking on new challenges and implementing change” within the eSHOP system.
Deb Thomas, associate vice chancellor for business and finance, noted that “eSHOP is part of the framework to position UNMC for the future of streamlined and cost saving purchasing.”
She said approximately $1.6 million was saved university-wide in 2012, with $620,000 in the past quarter alone. Thomas said the savings were due in large part to negotiated contracts and pricing agreements within eSHOP.
The awards took place at the monthly eSHOP User Group meeting.
