Learn@Lunch explores UNO Executive MBA

Working in an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing landscape, many health care professionals are seeking to bolster their business acumen by earning an advanced degree.

During this Learn@Lunch at noon on June 6 in Bennett Hall, Room 2020, meet representatives from the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Executive Master of Business Administration program — the region’s premier 17-month, weekend MBA for working professionals. Learn about the structure and benefits of this program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the 13th oldest in the country, and how UNMC employees can take advantage of tuition remission benefits.

Executive MBA program highlights:

  • No prerequisite classes or entrance exams;
  • Average student is 38 with 15 years’ professional-level experience;
  • Program is cohort-based and focused on collaborative learning;
  • International consulting project replaces a formal master’s thesis;
  • Alternating weekend format tailored to professionals with demanding schedules;
  • Access to top faculty and an active alumni network (including about a dozen alumni from UNMC).

“There is a dire need for a new breed of leadership in health care today,” said UNMC’s Chandrakanth Are, M.B.B.S., a graduate of the executive MBA class of 2014. “The Executive MBA program provided me an entire new repertoire of business skills, and I am more aware of the business side of medicine.”
