LGBT+ Faculty Mentoring Group launches series

The UNMC LGBT+ Faculty Mentoring will launch a new series of guest speakers designed to enhance diversity and promote information sharing across UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. This new series, known as the UNMC LGBT+ Faculty Mentoring-Education and Sharing Series, will begin this week.

Russell Buzalko, Ph.D., chair of the LGBT+ Faculty Mentoring Group said, “Our group is very pleased with the opportunity afforded to us by the UNMC leadership to have open and honest discussions in the form of a public education and sharing series. We will make every effort to offer such events every other month depending on topic selection and guest speaker availability.”

A guest speaker will discuss bisexuality and the local community at the inaugural event, which will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in Room 2014 of the Sorrell Center. The majority of the event will be dedicated to a question-and-answer session.

Following the session, the UNMC LGBT+ Faculty Mentoring Group will hold a short meeting.

Education and Sharing Series events are open to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty, students and employees. The group welcomes those from the LGBT+ community and allies, as well as other health care professionals wanting to learn more about health care issues in the LGBT+ community and diversity at UNMC.
