National Public Health Week celebrated at UNMC

Every year, the American Public Health Association partners with communities across the U.S. to observe National Public Health Week.

This year, the UNMC College of Public Health, in partnership with the college’s student association, is commemorating National Public Health Week with a week of events open to the UNMC College of Public Health community. Most events are held at the Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health (MCPH).

Students have planned a photo contest, state conference, wellness walk, games, parfait bar social and a breakfast.

Schedule of events:

April 1-4: Public Health Photo Contest: Send photos relevant to public health to Alisha Aggarwal. Send the photo with a couple of sentences to describe its importance or add a caption.

April 1: Wellness Walk Challenge: Noon-1 p.m. Meet at MCPH, second floor outside of the north doors. In the case of inclement weather, meet inside the Center for Healthy Living.

April 2: Student association yogurt/ice cream social and board games. From 3:30 to 5.30 p.m. at the MCPH second floor commons area.

April 3: Nebraska Public Health Conference. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nebraska Innovations Campus in Lincoln. National Public Health Week twitter chat from 1-2 p.m.

April 4: Nebraska Public Health Conference. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nebraska Innovations Campus in Lincoln. National Public Health Week Student Day.

April 5: Student association coffee, donuts, bagels and fruit. Judging for the National Public Health Photo Contest. From 10 a.m.-noon, MCPH second floor commons area.
