Chancellor takes to TV to share COVID-19 information

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and James Lawler, M.D., director, international programs and innovation, UNMC Global Center for Health Security, appeared Tuesday night on “Rural America Live” on RFD-TV to discuss rural concerns regarding the coronavirus.

Dr. Gold will continue to host “Rural America Live” through this week and possibly longer, featuring guests who will discuss various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and how they relate to rural listeners.

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the cable channel RFD-TV. Panelists will welcome callers’ questions at 877-731-6733.

On Tuesday’s show, Drs. Gold and Lawler discussed the importance of accurate information, communicating in a timely fashion and the importance of equipment and supplies.

They also discussed surge capacity at rural hospitals.

“Hospitals and health systems in rural America need to be watching very carefully,” Dr. Gold said.
