Colleagues from across Nebraska Medicine and UNMC gathered on April 5 to honor the memory of Joseph Stothert, MD, PhD.
The virtual memorial included reflections from acute care colleagues, former residents, friends and members of the Stothert family, as well as musical performances by Nebraska Medical Orchestra and general surgery residents Katharine Armstrong, MD, and Benjamin Acton, DO.
The hour-long service is available on UNMC’s intranet.
Dr. Stothert’s legacy will continue thanks to the Joseph Stothert MD, PhD Memorial Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation. Created by the UNMC Department of Surgery, the fund will make possible an annual “Joe Stothert Day,” an opportunity to invite nationally known experts to lecture and showcase the work of the UNMC Division of Acute Care Surgery.
