As a testament to his outstanding teaching efforts and the respect he has gained from students, the UNMC College of Dentistry Dental Class of 2022 recognized Gregory Bennett, DMD, assistant professor and vice chair of the department of adult restorative dentistry, with the college’s prestigious teaching award, the Dr. Kenneth Batenhorst Memorial Faculty Award.

The award is given to a faculty member who has made a significant contribution to students’ education and has shown great dedication to preparing them to be leaders in dentistry.

Lotte Sjulin, president of the dental class of 2022, presented Bennett with the award at the college’s Recognition & Awards Ceremony held on April 15.

“For the last four years, our class has benefitted from your professional input. From the classroom to the clinic, you have granted us your thoughts and, equally as important, your time,” Sjulin said. “Time which includes keeping us on pace during appointments to complete same-day crowns, making an effort to ask what questions we still have, and giving us tailored educational presentations to make us better providers.”

Bennett has been with the College of Dentistry since January 2016. His teaching and research focus area is digital dentistry.

“In clinic, we appreciate your tailored teaching style to suit those you work with while maintaining consistent standards of work. You’ve given each of us a solid digital dentistry foundation to build and practice upon, and for that we are grateful,” Sjulin said.
