On March 25, the Nebraska Center for Women’s Health Research, in partnership with The Fibroid Foundation, will offer Empowering-U, a special presentation focused on physician and patient dialogue to improve shared decision-making. The public is invited, and attendees will learn about the latest therapies and resources for reproductive health challenges and fibroid research.

Speakers include Sateria Venable, founder/CEO of The Fibroid Foundation, who began as a patient advocate diagnosed with fibroids at the age of 26. After receiving the recommendation of a hysterectomy in her 20s, she began to explore other options to manage her fibroid diagnosis. As a result, she launched a quest for information, which led her to establish The Fibroid Foundation.

In addition, UNMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty members, Karen Carlson, MD, and Jitu George, PhD, will present.

The presentation runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Durham Research Center (Tower 1) on the UNMC campus. Registration is complimentary, but spots are limited.
