Graduate education research symposium to be held May 3

The fifth annual Graduate Medical Education Research Symposium will be held on May 3 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Sorrell Center’s Truhlsen Events Center.

“It is always exciting to showcase the research of our residents and fellows,” said Chandra Are, MBBS, the UNMC College of Medicine’s associate dean of graduate medical education.

The symposium will provide the opportunity for house officers to present their research in all avenues, including clinical outcomes, basic science, education, business, health policy and humanities. Dr. Are said close to 110 research abstracts – in both oral and poster formats – will be presented at the event, nearly 40 more than when the symposium first premiered in 2018.

Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and UNMC College of Medicine Dean Bradley Britigan, MD, will open the event.

The event is being held live for only the second time since the beginning of the pandemic, and Dr. Are said all members of the UNMC community are invited to attend and show support to the residents and fellows.

“Our house officers are involved in impactful research projects and studies,” he said. “We are pleased to have the opportunity once again to come together in person to share their work.”
