Juhi R. Uttamani, DDS, PhD, has been selected as the second Windsweep Farm Oral Mucosal Immunity Consortium (OMIC) Scholar. The award comes with a $50,000 grant to support her pilot project entitled “Deciphering the Role of miRNAs in Peri-implantitis Pathogenesis.”
Dr. Uttamani is an assistant professor at the University of Iowa. She has a certificate of specialty in advanced postgraduate periodontics and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The OMIC is a collaboration centered at the UNMC College of Dentistry, and includes researchers at the University of Minnesota, University of Iowa and National Jewish Health-University of Colorado.
The goal of OMIC is define how oral mucosal immunity can impact diseases of the oral cavity and surrounding mucosal tissues and organs. Learn more about the OMIC.
