Lisa Moravec, RDH, MSDH, an associate professor at the UNMC College of Dentistry, received the 2023 Professional Achievement Award from the Idaho State University (ISU) College of Health, where she earned her master’s degree in dental hygiene in 2011.

The Professional Achievement Award honors alumni who have made a significant impact in their profession and their community. Recipients are “a true reflection of what it means to be an ISU alum and to represent their alma mater, exemplifying values that are crucial to success in their respective fields and in bettering the world around them.”

Lisa has contributed greatly to the dental hygiene profession through her endeavors in leadership, education, research, public health and community service. She has been a dental hygiene educator for 19 years and is the site coordinator for the UNMC West Division Dental Hygiene Program.

Lisa is a nationally recognized leader in the dental hygiene profession. She served as president of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) in 2020-2021 and as chair of the ADHA Institute for Oral Health in 2021-2022.

She was chosen by her peers as component and constituent Nebraska Dental Hygienist of the Year and received the Nebraska Dental Hygienists’ Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. She has received many faculty recognition awards selected by students.

Lisa is involved in many community service projects and gives generously of her time and talents.

“I encourage others to be lifelong learners and to seize opportunities to serve. It’s important to me to empower my students and colleagues to be leaders for the dental hygiene profession,” she said.

Her research achievements include publishing several articles and one textbook chapter, and she was the primary investigator on a research grant involving medical-dental integration during pediatric well child visits.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the UNMC College of Dentistry in 2002.
