Shalea Cotton, DNP, received the Staff Excellence in Engagement Gold Award at the third annual UNMC ITEACH Awards on April 17. Dr. Cotton’s award recognizes excellence in community engagement by UNMC staff and provides exceptional service to students, their colleagues and/or UNMC.

Kacee Child and Jenniepearl Spencer, DNP students at the UNMC College of Nursing, were chosen for a podium presentation out of 17 presenters at the IAE Spotlight on Scholarship for their project “Incorporating a High-Fidelity Transgender Simulation into Undergraduate Nursing Education.”

Windy Alonso, PhD, was selected to serve as an Ambassador for the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR) Ambassador Program. As an ambassador, Dr. Alonso will commit to ongoing contact with and education of congressional members and staff regarding the importance of nursing research and funding for NINR.
Sarah Jones was selected as the May 2024 Silver U award winner.
