Results are in from the med center’s food drive

Boxed donations from the med center food drive

The final tally is in, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, Nebraska Medicine and UNMC collected a whopping 1,475.6 pounds of food across 12 locations. That’s almost three-quarters of a ton of kindness boxed, bagged and ready to nourish the local community.

These donations already made their way to the Maverick Food Pantry, Clarkson College Food Pantry and the Food Bank for the Heartland, where they’ll be making a real difference.

“Access to food is fundamental to health and wellbeing, yet many members of our community face food insecurity,” said Becky Jackson, manager for Nebraska Medicine Community Health. “Through this food drive, we did not simply donate items – we invested in the health of our neighbors and reinforced our commitment to a stronger, healthier community.”

This food drive was held in recognition of National Nutrition Month and supports the Nebraska Medicine and UNMC 2022-25 Community Health Improvement Plan, which includes nutrition, physical activity and weight as focus areas.

Organizers thanked all med center colleagues who participated and helped support the community.
